Biography
From the very beginning you could always find crayons and scissors in this artist’s hands. Karen Wallach studied art and illustration in college. After college she dressed mannequins and did store window displays for several years until she discovered decorative painting. Specializing in Faux Finishes and a style of painting known as Trompe L’Oeil, she painted for clients all over the United States. In 2005, Karen relocated from Denver, Colorado with her husband Mike, two Old English Sheepdogs, and a cat to Minnesota, where they all reside in a log cabin in the woods.
Karen continues to paint and illustrate upon request. Always challenging her creative side, Karen is presently working with textiles, creating quilts, fiber art, and teaching others how to use their creative talents in sewing, quilting and painting. Awarded the Arts for Advancing Academics Grant in 2007 and 2008, she has taught more than 560 sixth grade students how to hand sew and quilt.
